SHIPPING
Plants are living things. We ship them accordingly.
Every order is packed with care to protect roots, foliage, and soil through transit. We do our best to send plants out under conditions that give them the best chance of arriving happy, but weather, carrier delays, and plant drama are occasionally outside everyone’s control.
WHEN WE SHIP
Orders are typically shipped early in the week to reduce the chance of plants sitting in a carrier facility over the weekend.
Processing time may vary depending on the plant, weather, and current order volume. We usually ship Monday - Wednesday.
WEATHER HOLDS
Sometimes the safest place for your plant is exactly where it is.
Extreme heat or cold may delay shipment. If conditions along the route look risky, we may hold an order briefly rather than knowingly send a plant into terrible weather.
If your order is being held for weather, we’ll let you know.
PACKAGING
Plants are packed individually with their size, growth habit, and root system in mind.
Foliage may be gently secured, soil may be stabilized, and delicate plants may receive additional protection where needed.
WHEN YOUR PLANT ARRIVES
Open the package promptly. Your plant has had enough adventure for one week.
Remove packing materials carefully and give the plant time to acclimate before repotting, fertilizing, or making major changes.
Minor cosmetic damage, temporary drooping, or leaf movement can happen during shipping and does not necessarily indicate an unhealthy plant.
SHIPPING DAMAGE
If your plant arrives with significant damage, contact us within 24 hours of delivery and include clear photos of the plant, packaging, and shipping box.
We’ll review the situation individually and determine the appropriate next step.
ADDRESS & DELIVERY
Please double-check your shipping address before completing your order.
Once a package has been transferred to the carrier, rerouting may not be possible. Velvet Root is not responsible for delivery issues caused by incorrect addresses or packages left unattended after confirmed delivery.
LOCAL PICKUP
Local plant people can skip the box.
Local pickup is available by arrangement. Choose the option at checkout and once your plant is ready, we’ll send pickup details and coordinate a time.
SHIPPING RESTRICTIONS
Plants may be subject to agricultural restrictions depending on the destination and variety.
If we’re unable to legally ship a particular plant to your location, we’ll contact you before fulfillment.
THE LITTLE DISCLAIMER
A note about living things:
Plants naturally vary in leaf count, coloration, size, shape, and growth pattern. Shipping can also temporarily affect their appearance. We care deeply about sending healthy plants, but we can’t promise that a living plant will arrive looking exactly as it did the moment it left us.
