At Velvet Root, we believe the beauty of a plant lies in both its wildness and the care that shapes its growth. Every specimen is cultivated with intention, given the conditions, attention, and time it needs to thrive. From familiar favorites to uncommon varieties, each plant is treated as something worth growing well. Rooted in nature, refined through thoughtful care.

Some people can own one plant. We are not those people. Velvet Root is for the ones who notice the velvet leaves, the strange variegation, the nearly-black foliage. The ones who rearrange an entire room because the lighting is better over there. The ones who absolutely have space for just one more. The ones who are a little wild, a little obsessive, and always intentional.
Velvet Root may be a business, but at its heart, we’re just plant people who happen to really like luxurious things. What started as a personal collection grew into a small network of trusted growers who share the same fascination with unusual foliage, good genetics, healthy roots, and, admittedly, very little restraint when it comes to bringing home one more plant.
